Campus Renovation Continues…and Completes!

Bit by bit the progress of the renovation of the K-8 campus is coming to a close. Shu Ren is proud to announce that construction for both the playground with modern play structures along with the natural play area has been completed. On Monday students were introduced to the new play areas available to them. Play area safety and expectations were discussed. What happened afterwards was pure joy!   Cramming in play time on the play structures before the rain comes! A little piece of zen… Students exploring all the different sensory experiences the natural play area has to offer. Transformation of the Jefferson campus as the new home for the K-8 students started taking place began in the beginning of August. Internal renovation took place as quickly as possible so as to be class room-ready by the start of school on September 1. Since then campus renovation work has since then continued. Tony Moore, Shu Ren’s CFO has created a blog – Aspire to Shu Ren – to share with you the renovation work as it happens. You are invited to drop in and see what has been and is being worked on and take a peek at the improvements being made to the new campus!  ...

Shu Ren students & families recognized for their support of the Alameda County Community Food Bank Drive

Led by our amazing Kindergarten teacher, Kai-Yao To, Shu Ren participated in Alameda County Community Food Bank’s Holiday Food Drive 2015 by hosting a food drive during the first two weeks of December. The school committed to providing up to 4 barrels of non-perishable food to the ACCFB. Together, the students and families all generously donated many bags of much needed food to give to the Alameda County Community Food Bank. The food drive officially started on December 3 and by December 7 the students and families had already filled 1 3/4 barrels. By December 10 that number increased to 3 barrels. With how much enthusiasm and support was being provided the school decided to see if may be possible to surpass 4 barrels and challenge themselves to provide 5. By December 14 it can be seen easily more than 5 barrels had been collected. The ACCFB informed the school that in fact that almost 600 pounds of food had been collected and donated!     On behalf of the ACCFB and the clients they serve THANK YOU, students and families, for your inspiring generosity!   For families interested in learning more about the Alameda County Community Food Bank, the support they provide and how they may help out, please visit their website: http://www.accfb.org/. The mission of the Alameda County Community Food Bank is to alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food and nutrition education to people in need, educating the public, and promoting public policies that address hunger and its root causes.
