New Elementary Campus for Shu Ren

Shu Ren International School is very excited to announce our new elementary school campus, at 1 Lawson Road in Kensington.

The lease of this facility will allow us to move and expand our ever-growing elementary school while also allowing us to grow our Pre-K classes at 1333 University Avenue. Starting this fall, all elementary classes (K and up) will be at our new location in Kensington while all Pre-K classes will stay at our current location. We will also be able to add a two-year old pre-K class (without potty training required) at 1333 University Avenue starting this fall. We are currently accepting applications for the Pre-K 2 class.

Our new elementary school facility is located on top of the Berkeley Hills with an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. The Educational Building is part of a nine acre property with playground, basketball court, and grass field for students to play, and it also has plenty of parking. It offers a beautiful learning and playing environment for our students.

Summer Camp at Shu Ren

Shu Ren is now registering students for our Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp. We have another great program of inquiry-based learning planned for both Pre-K and school-aged students. Two-week sessions run from June 24 to August 16, during which children will explore a variety of exciting themes including whale migrations, animal habitats, urban wildlife, and traditional Chinese stories. Each session will include at least one field trip.

Shopping Night at Books, Inc

Please join us on November 9 for Shu Ren International School’s Shopping Night at Books Inc. at 1760 Fourth St. in Berkeley. From 6 PM to 8 PM, 20% of the sales of any and all items purchased at the store will be donated to Shu Ren. This is a wonderful and fun way to support our fantastic Mandarin immersion school.

We will have a table set up with drinks, snacks and finger foods. Come have a glass of wine, and relax. There will be a storyteller on hand to read to and entertain the children, so that parents can browse the store at leisure. Books Inc. also has a nice selection of toys, games, calendars, and notebooks. You can buy a gift card (makes a nice holiday gift) and 20% of that amount will also go to the school. Restaurants a few steps away include Tacubaya (Mexican) Cafe Rouge (American), and O Chame (Japanese), in case you want to have dinner as well.

Shu Ren Fall Camp

Shu Ren is offering a Fall Mandarin Immersion Camp from October 22-26. The Camp will have a limited number of spots available for students in Kindergarten – 4th Grade from other schools. The Camp runs from 8:30-3:00 pm with optional aftercare from 3-6 pm. During the day, students will learn Mandarin in an immersion environment through fun activities such as arts and crafts, stories, games, outdoor play, etc.

After School Program for 2012-13

Shu Ren International School is offering an exciting selection of after school classes which are open to students from the community.

Classes offered for ages 5-10 include:

* Mandarin language
* Ceramics
* Aikido
* Music Club
* Suzuki violin

Classes for Pre-K students include:

* Pre-K music club
* Learning the Alphabet Through Art
* Suzuki violin

Shu Ren has just announced the line-up for admissions events for prospective families interested in applying for the 2013-14 school year. Shu Ren will be accepting applications for Pre-K through 5th Grade.

All applicants for 2013-2014 admissions are encouraged to first attend an Open House and a School Tour.

Open House Dates:
Friday, November 16 – 6:30-8:30pm
Saturday, January 12 – 10:30am – 12:30pm
Friday, February 1 – 6:30-8:30pm
Saturday, March 2 – 10:30am-12:30pm

Shu Ren Summer Camp

Shu Ren is now registering students for our Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp. We will hold separate camps for Pre-K and for elementary students. Students will learn Chinese language and cultural knowledge through fun, immersion based activities including music, dance, crafts, field trips, and more. In the Elementary Level camp, each two-week session will follow a different theme that explores California’s unique natural wonders while incorporating dance, music, poetry and drama. All sessions will include hands-on learning experiences and field trips. The camp will be held in four two-week sessions from June 25 – August 17. Register now for an early-bird discount!
