Celebrating World Book Day!
World Book Day is an international holiday that celebrates books and reading. Our goal is to excite and engage student interests in English and Mandarin literacy. This year, we celebrated World Book Day on March 2nd with contests and activities throughout the day. Students and teachers decorated classroom doors based on their favorite books, brought in home-made food for a Read-It-To-Eat-It contest, and dressed up as their favorite book characters for a costume show and parade.
At the K-8 campus, students participated in journaling, book making, character photo booth, comic creation, bookmark paper folding, drop-everything-and-read, and a campus-wide book scavenger hunt. At preschool, students shared books with their classmates as well as a puppet show in the library. Throughout the day, parents and school leaders dressed up in characters and visited classrooms to read a favorite book. We wrapped up the day with an announcement of our very own Little Free Library - students will be able to enter a design contest to decorate the little library, and most importantly, we will be able to share books with each other as well as the neighboring community!
