On  May 8th, 2018 grateful families prepared breakfast and lunch as part of our Teacher Appreciation Day.  The lobbies at both campuses were overflowing with delicious food and drink! Every year, the Confucius Institute at SF State and San Francisco Unified School District organize the Chinese Language Bridge Cup Contest for K-12 Students. April is School Library Month! At Shu Ren, we want to celebrate and highlight the connection between the school library and students, teachers, our community, and the world at large. As part of our commitment to action, we have partnered with CAWS (California Association of IB World Schools) and We Help Two to assist communities still suffering from the devastating effects of the wildfires and mudslides. Through this program not only will we raise funds by selling socks but also impact our local community through the "warm sock" donation program by sharing sock donations with shelters in our community. Our Grade 1 students are fully immersed in an inquiry into why The properties of materials influence how they are used. Students in grades 5, 6, and MYP embarked on a trip to China last week. During this two-week field trip, students will practice Chinese speaking skills; observe and recognize regional differences among areas in China; explore opportunities for services in local schools and communities; and to learn traveling skills. Students participated in a ceremony with local kindergartners.  A visit to the Old City Fortress first built in the Song Dynasty.  Sightseeing in the Crouching Dragon Village (卧龙农庄), which is up in the mountains for summer retreat.   BBQ with buddy students - last activity of the trip!
