Our first Graduating Class!
On Tuesday, June 12th, 2018, Shu Ren International School celebrated its first graduating class of primary years and middle years students. The excitement was palpable as some of our students came dressed to impress, while some were eagerly awaiting to change into their formal wear. Parents arrived with tasty treats for the final potluck and headed upstairs to enjoy eachothers’ company before the ceremony began. The traditional melody of Pomp & Circumstance cued the beginning of ceremonies and alerted parents to take their seats. Our head of school, Rebecca Zipprich, opened the event with encouraging words of praise for our accomplished students and their families before each student walked the red carpet to receive their graduation certificates. Our wonderful Grade 5/6 teachers, Anny Xi Chen and Jackie Beuttell, gave wonderful words of praise and enthusiasm of their students as did MYP coordinator/teacher and Chinese language coordinator, Lam Tsoi and founder of Shu Ren International School, Jie Moore. Each student prepared moving words to share their favorite memories and what they will miss the most about our wonderful school. The dominant theme for favorite memories was definitely the exciting China trip where our teachers and students interacted with local students and toured some of the most famous landmarks in southern China. The final stage of our ceremony included our students moving their tassels from right to left and then threw their caps in the air in true graduation fashion. A potluck capped the first graduation with delicious treats and reminiscing amongst students, parents, and teachers. We look forward to graduating future generations of Mandarin speaking, global citizens and lifelong learners!
