Shu Ren PTO hosted the annual Chinese Book Fair on October 30th, raising close to $200 for the school! As with previous years, we partnered with Chinese Books for Children, based in Los Altos Hills. Teachers picked out a “wishlist” of books from an expansive catalog (www.chinesebooksforchildren.com) to place into their classroom wish bin; parents and children then browsed and selected the books they wished to donate to their respective classrooms.
Chinese Books For Children brought in a wide selection of books, CDs, and DVDs, including board books, picture books, short chapter books and longer fictions, as well as “fact” books. There were Chinese-translated classics from Eric Carle and Gail Gibbons, along with popular works from Korean, Japanese, and of course, Chinese authors.
With the money raised, we were able to fulfill most of the remaining teachers wishlists and add to the library’s collection. Shu Ren librarian Miao Laoshi also hand picked a few titles for each grade level, so be sure to stop by the library today to check them out!
